What stood between the business and its next customer?

MarketBrooklyn, NY · serving all five NYC boroughs

Visit the client website

Flat Rate Junk Removal came to us with a genuine competitive advantage that nobody could find: transparent, published, flat-rate pricing in a category built on vague estimates and upsells.

Based in Brooklyn and serving all of New York City, Flat Rate handles residential cleanouts, office junk removal, estate cleanouts, appliance and furniture removal, construction debris and electronics recycling. Their pricing page lists every load size with an exact dollar figure. from 3 cubic yards to 24. while the national franchises competing for the same searches quote only after an on-site visit.

The issue was that this differentiator lived on an interior page nobody reached. Organic visibility was concentrated on a handful of Brooklyn terms, Queens and the Bronx were nearly unserved in search, and paid campaigns were bidding broadly against franchise budgets on generic head terms.

We restructured the site around borough and service intent, made price transparency the central conversion argument, and rebuilt paid search around long-tail item-specific queries the franchises ignore.

The customer journey

Three decisions.
A more useful path forward.

Name the removal task

Item-specific service pages matched concrete needs such as furniture, appliances, and estate cleanouts.

Understand the price

Load-size information and estimator visibility made the pricing model easier to assess.

Request the pickup

A shorter mobile quote path and prominent calling supported the next step.

Borough and Item-Level Architecture

We expanded the site from Brooklyn-centric coverage to a full matrix of borough pages crossed with the item and service categories that drive real search volume.

Dedicated borough landing pages for Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island
Item-specific service pages (hot tub, refrigerator, TV, mattress, tire, ATM removal)
Segmented residential, office and general cleanout service hubs
LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ schema across the site
Internal linking from item pages into borough and pricing pages

Making Price Transparency the Hook

Flat Rate's published pricing was the strongest conversion asset on the site and it was buried. We surfaced the load-size pricing and the interactive estimator throughout the funnel, wrote every service page against the "no surprises" promise, and used exact dollar figures in ad copy. which competitors quoting "free estimates" structurally cannot match.

Pricing page sessions rose 327%, and the estimator became the site's highest-converting engagement point.

Long-Tail Paid Search

We abandoned broad head-term bidding and rebuilt campaigns around item-specific and borough-specific queries, with an aggressive negative keyword program. Wasted spend on irrelevant queries dropped 67% and cost per lead fell 44% on comparable budget.

Mobile-First Conversion Work

Junk removal is an urgent, on-the-phone purchase. We rebuilt the mobile experience around click-to-call, shortened the quote form to four fields, and put same-day availability messaging above the fold. Mobile conversion rate climbed 138% and same-day bookings rose 63%.

The strategic takeaway

An advantage only helps when customers encounter it.

The work connected price transparency with the searches and pages customers actually used. Item-level content answered the immediate need; borough pages established relevance; pricing and estimator visibility addressed the cost question. Booked pickups are the commercial outcome reported in the summary. Estimator engagement, form submissions, and call clicks remain supporting behaviors rather than additional bookings to add to that total.
